Macon, GA- Wesleyan College is proud to announce the appointment of Olivia Gaither as the new Head Basketball Coach. A native of Richmond Virginia, Gaither brings a strong background as both a high level student athlete, and a coach with firsthand experience in building competitive, disciplined programs. A 2022 graduate of Chowan University, Gaither spent five seasons as a Division II women's basketball student-athlete and four of those years starting for the Hawks. In her Senior year she helped lead her team to an 18–10 record and a conference semifinal appearance while averaging 7 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Following her graduation in 2022, Gaither returned to Chowan as an admissions counselor, then joined the women's basketball staff as a volunteer assistant. In June 2024, she was promoted to full-time assistant coach, quickly making an impact on one of the most successful seasons in program history. During the 2024–25 campaign, the team opened with a historic 9–0 start and finished 19–5 overall, earning a national ranking and finishing high nationally in a multitude of statistical categories. Gaither also served as interim head coach during the season, guiding the program to an undefeated 4–0 record in that role.
Gaither now brings that momentum and leadership to Wesleyan College, where she is eager to build a program rooted in growth, accountability, and belief. Drawn by Wesleyan's mission and its commitment to developing women leaders, she aims to empower her student-athletes both on and off the court. Her vision centers on cultivating confident competitors, resilient teammates, and disciplined young women equipped with the skills to succeed in basketball and in life, setting the foundation for sustained success for Wesleyan Women's Basketball.
