Davis, Hardy Lead Wolves over Scotties

Macon, GA- The Wolves welcomed the Scotties of Agnes Scott College to Porter Gymnasium looking for a little revenge after the match-up at Agnes Scott last week and exacted just that, taking the CCS match-up by a final score of 71-67.

Sophomore guard Zariah Davis turned in her best performance of the season with a 22 point 16 rebound double double, while Freshman Jenaiya Hardy followed up closely with a 14 point 14 rebound double double of her own. Freshman Alissa Sandifer also finished in double figure with 17 points.

The Wolves started the game hot with Alissa Sandifer knocking down a 3 pointer to put them on top 3-2 3 minutes into the game. A few lay ups by Hardy and jumpers from Davis would help them build a 5 point advantage after the first 10 minutes of play. The Scotties fought back in the second, but 3 point baskets by Maya Whitehead and Katie Laufer would extend the Wolves lead to 8 points. They led by as much as 12 in the first half, but took a 7 point advantage into the break.

The Scotties turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter converting on 70% of their baskets in the paint cutting the Wolves lead to just 4 points with 10 minutes to go. Some sharp shooting by the Scotties early in the 4th would eliminate the wolves lead, typing the game up at 54 with 8 minutes left to play. Another clutch 3 pointer by Whitehead followed up by a lay up and a pair of free throws by Mar'Reonna Little would give the Wolves the lead back with just over a minute and a half to play. Clutch free throw shooting by Briscia Tejada, Alissa Sandifer, Jenaiya Hardy and Zariah Davis would prove enough to fend off the Scotties and help the Wolves to secure the 71-67 victory.
