MACON, Ga. - Wesleyan College continued their strong start to conference play in impressive fashion Tuesday night, earning a 4-0 victory over Andrew College at Panoz Field.
The Wolves wasted little time getting on the board, as
Louden Busbee scored just 4:43 into the match off an assist from
Fernanda Perez.
Stephanie Cogan doubled the advantage less than six minutes later, finishing a chance created by
Caleigh Patton and
Skylar Benko to give Wesleyan a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Busbee continued her big night in the second half adding her second goal in the 55th minute off an assist from Cogan before completing the hat trick in the 86th minute, with Patton providing her second assist of the match.
Wesleyan controlled the attack throughout the night, out shooting Andrew 24-9 with 13 shots on goal and a 6-0 corner kick advantage. Benko led the Wolves with seven shots, while Busbee finished with six shots and four attempts on frame.
The Wolves were equally strong defensively, keeping Andrew off the scoreboard as
Brooke Hankinson and
Julie Cole teamed up for seven saves and their third clean sheet on the season.
The victory moves Wesleyan to an overall record of 3-3-1 and 2-2-1 in SSAC play. They will look to continue the strong play Saturday at 1pm against Point University as they celebrate their seniors for senior day.
