Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College softball team wrapped up USA South play on Sunday afternoon, dropping two games to LaGrange College, 3-2 and 9-1.
Notables:
- The Wolves jumped out to an early 2-1 lead over LaGrange after one inning, but they failed to convert on two hits in the third and the Panthers scored runs in both the third and fourth innings to take the lead for good.
- In Game 2, Wesleyan recorded seven hits but couldn't string them together in order to score runs, stranding eight runners on base over five innings of play.
- Junior Victoria Clower led the Wolves offense with three hits, while Savanna Boyette, Tiffani Linville, and MJ Jackson each picked up two.
Quotable:
""I thought we picked up where we left off yesterday and played a good ball game to start the day,"" remarked Wesleyan head coach Dickey Hightower. ""Val pitched well and we had a chance to win but couldn't get the key hits when we needed them late in the game. We dug a bit of a hole for ourselves in the second game that we couldn't pull out of, but I'm pleased with our effort for the most part this afternoon.""
