"

Macon, GA - Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Wesleyan College mounted an exciting comeback over Huntingdon College to pick up their fourth USA South conference softball win of the season, 3-2. The Wolves attempted to earn another come from behind victory in the day's second game but came up just short as the Hawks edged Wesleyan 4-3.

Notables:

  • The Wolves seventh inning comeback came on the heels of an MJ Jackson bunt single and Savanna Boyette single to start the inning. Tiffani Linville walked and Victoria Clower was hit by a pitch, bringing in Jackson for the score. Captain Claire Crawford sealed the deal for the Wolves with a hard hit single to left field, scoring Boyette and Linville for the win.
  • Junior Valerie Clower picked up her fourth win of the season, allowing only five Huntingdon hits.
  • Alana Walker and MJ Jackson both finished the day 3-for-6 at the plate, while Claire Crawford, Savanna Boyette and Tiffani Linville each added two hits. The Wolves tallied 15 total hits in the two games.

Quotable:

""It's games like today's that make softball fun,"" remarked Wesleyan head coach Dickey Hightower. ""Val and Claire pitched really well and we got key hits when we needed them. We scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the first game and had a chance to do the same in the second game but fell one hit short. I was really pleased with the way we played today, and I hope we can keep it going tomorrow against LaGrange.""
