Maryville, TN - The Wesleyan College softball team put up a good fight but ultimately fell just short against USA South foe Maryville College on Saturday afternoon. The Scots took both games of the doubleheader, winning 9-5 and 8-0.
Notables:
- Freshman Savanna Boyette led the Wolves offensively, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored.
- Junior Victoria Clower added three hits, while freshman McKenzi Shelpman continued her good play this weekend with two more hits.
Quotable:
""I think we played with as much enthusiasm today as we have any time this season,"" remarked Wesleyan head coach Dickey Hightower. ""We scored some runs and were in the first game the whole way. We swung the bat much better, and McKenzi Shelpman, Savanna Boyette, Vic Clower and Alyssa Flowers all looked good at the plate today. We took some good swings on balls that Maryville made great plays on as well. Overall, our effort today was really good and I'm pleased with our performance.""
