Clermont, FL - Freshman Valerie Clower picked up her first collegiate win for the Wesleyan College softball team on the first day of the Clermont Tournament when the Wolves defeated SUNY Potsdam 5-0 on Sunday afternoon. Earlier in the day, Wesleyan fell to Adrian College by a score of 8-0.
Clower worked efficiently from the circle, striking out seven and giving up only one hit while facing just 22 batters over seven innings.
Offensively, the Wolves piled up 10 hits against Potsdam, led by Tiffani Linville and Jessica Fleming, who combined to go 5-for-8 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI. Valerie Clower, Jema Bravo, Colleen DeGraff, Sam McMahon and Camilla Carter each added a hit in the game as well.
Wesleyan will face Immaculata University and Rose-Hulman on Day 2 of the Clermont Tournament beginning at 9:00am on March 2.
