Wolves Split on Senior Day

The Wesleyan Wolves welcomed the Scots of Covenant College to Macon for Senior day and a CCS conference matchup. Runs were hard to come by on Friday, but Wesleyan College did enough early and leaned on a strong pitching performance from Kaylee Oliver to secure a 2-1 win over Covenant College.
The Wolves jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning and never gave the lead back. Makayla Tomlinson opened the scoring with a double to center field, and Sydnee Mcelveen followed with an RBI single to center, giving Wesleyan a quick 2-0 advantage.
That early offense proved to be enough behind Oliver, who went the distance in the circle for the Wolves. She threw all seven innings, allowing just one run while striking out two and walking only one. Covenant put pressure on throughout the game, but Oliver continued to work out of trouble and keep Wesleyan in control.
Offensively, Mcelveen and Taylor Laviano led the Wolves with two hits each. Mcelveen and Tomlinson each drove in a run, providing the key swings in a game where every base runner mattered.
Wesleyan also made the plays it needed defensively, including turning a double play to help limit Covenant's scoring chances.
It was not a game filled with big innings or easy runs, but the Wolves found a way to win. Wesleyan struck early, stayed steady in the circle, and held on late for a tough 2-1 Conference victory.
