Wolves Take 2 from Bears in Dramatic Fashion

Game 1
The Wesleyan College Wolves built an early cushion and held on late to edge the Berea College Bears, 5–4 to open their 3 game series Friday.
Wesleyan struck quickly after conceding an early run. Singles from Makayla Tomlinson and Alexus Humphries fueled a three-run frame, giving Wesleyan a 3–1 advantage.
The Wolves added to their lead in the second inning when Sydnee Mcelveen delivered a key double, extending the margin to 5–1. That early surge proved critical as Berea chipped away throughout the game.
Wesleyan starter Savannah Wren worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits while striking out one and issuing no walks. Amber Searcy provided key relief, tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings to secure the win for the Wolves.
Offensively, Humphries and Tomlinson each collected two hits to pace the Wolves. Mcelveen and Humphries drove in two runs apiece, and Senior Katelyn McCord added patience at the plate, drawing two of the teams seven walks, and swiping a pair of bases.

Game 2
In a back-and-forth battle that featured momentum swings throughout, the Wesleyan College Wolves rallied late to secure an 11–10 walk-off victory over the Berea College Bears in game 2 of Friday's double header.
Trailing 10–9 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Taylor Laviano delivered when it mattered most with a ringing two run double into the right center gap to finish the dramatic win.
The high-scoring contest saw Wesleyan tally 14 hits, while Berea finished with eight. The Bears jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Wiard cleared the bases with a three-run triple, followed by an additional run scoring on a Wesleyan error. Berea extended its advantage in the second inning with RBI doubles from Searcy and Lewis.
Wesleyan chipped away and eventually pulled even in the seventh inning. Alexus Humphries' groundout tied the game at 7–7, setting the stage for a tense final stretch.
Berea regained the lead in the eighth inning, capitalizing on a Wesleyan error and a sacrifice fly to go ahead 9–7. The Wolves answered in the bottom half, using a groundout and heads-up baserunning to knot the score once again.
In the ninth, Berea briefly reclaimed control when a bases-loaded walk to made it 10–9. But Wesleyan refused to go quietly, setting up Laviano's game-winning hit in the final frame.
Laviano led the Wolves offensively, going 4-for-5 from the leadoff spot. Savannah Wren added three RBIs, while the team showed patience at the plate with eight walks and aggressiveness on the bases with six stolen bases.
In the circle, Grace Glowacki started for Wesleyan, allowing six runs (five earned) over 1 1/3 innings. Haley Blankenship provided crucial relief, tossing 7 2/3 innings while allowing four unearned runs and striking out three.
Despite multiple late leads by Berea, Wesleyan's persistence paid off, with Laviano's walk-off double punctuating a thrilling 11–10 victory.
