Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College softball team could not get the bats going on Sunday afternoon against Ferrum College, who took both games of a doubleheader from the Wolves with scores of 4-0 and 12-0.

Notables:

  • In Game 1, freshman Savanna Boyette was the only Wesleyan player to earn a hit, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Ferrum's Courtney Rudd had the Wolves number, dialing up 11 strikeouts over seven innings.
  • In Game 2, Tiffani Linville and McKenzi Shelpman each picked up a hit for the Wolves while the offense limited the strikeouts to just three. Ferrum's bats, however, came alive, and the Panthers piled up 17 hits in five innings.

Quotable:

""We lost 4-0 in the first game. The score was tied going into the seventh inning, but Ferrum was able to score in the final frame to get the win. Once again in the second game a big inning sort of did us in and we couldn't get the bats going to respond. Nicole did a great job pitching in both games today. We played hard, but we need to score and hit better in order to win ball games,"" stated Wesleyan head coach Dickey Hightower.
