Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College softball team dropped four games over the weekend against conference foe Huntingdon College.
The Pioneers made big strides in Friday's doubleheader against Great South Athletic Conference leader Huntingdon College. They increased their offensive production and number of runners on base, while turning two different double plays on defense.
In the first game of the day, the Pioneers settled down after a 7-run first inning to surrender only one run in each of the next three innings. Huntingdon's Melissa McClure was too much for Wesleyan from the circle, throwing a perfect game with 10 strike outs in the Hawks 14-0 win.
Wesleyan bounced back in game two with a stronger offensive performance, taking Huntingdon to seven innings in a 7-1 loss. Colleen DeGraff sparked the Pioneer offense, going 3-for-4 from the plate with two doubles and a run scored.
Saturday proved to be a much tougher task for the Pioneers as they struggled to find an offensive rhythm against the strong pitching of Huntingdon. The Hawk's Melissa McClure once again threw a no-hitter, while striking out 10 during game one's 20-0 loss. Wesleyan dropped the second game by a score of 22-0.
The Pioneers return to the Mathews Athletic Complex on Monday for a six-game homestand. They face Agnes Scott College in a doubleheader on Monday beginning at 5:00pm. They will return on Tuesday to play Covenant College at 3:00pm and Wednesday to play Judson College at 3:00pm.
