Macon, GA - Playing their third doubleheader in three days, a short-handed Wesleyan softball team showed signs of fatigue on the hottest day of the spring against Judson College. The Pioneers were swept by the Eagles, dropping the first game by a score of 19-0 and the second game 16-0 in six innings.
Defensive errors hurt the Pioneers early in the day as only 6 of the 19 runs scored by Judson in the first game were earned by pitcher Sara McMahon. Despite their early struggles in the field, Wesleyan bounced back in the second game of the day to take Judson to six innings. Down 7-0 entering the sixth inning, the Eagles bats got hot while the Pioneer defense was worn down.
Wesleyan picked up hits by Colleen DeGraff, Sara McMahon, Anna Jones and Hannah Finch for the day.
The Pioneers will travel to Covenant College on Saturday for a GSAC doubleheader before returning to campus on Sunday to take on GSAC rival Salem College at 2:00pm.
