Lookout Mountain, GA - A slow start proved costly for Wesleyan on Friday night as Covenant College jumped out to a 28-5 first quarter lead and put the game out of reach early. The Wolves played even with the Scots for the remainder of the game but could never dig out of the early hole, ultimately falling to the USA South foe by a score of 75-51.

  • Senior Justice Thigpen once again stuffed the stat line, scoring 11 points, grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out six assists, and recording three steals and two blocked shots on the defensive end of the court.
  • Senior Alyssa Whitford and freshman Nadia Hernandez played quality minutes off the bench after starters found themselves in foul trouble. Both players finished the game with six points, and Hernandez was a perfect 3-for3 from the floor.
  • The difference in the game came down to rebounding and free throws. The Scots won the battle of the boards, outrebounding Wesleyan 52-32, and the Wolves struggled to convert at the free throw line, shooting just 48% as compared to Covenant's 76.5%.

Wesleyan head coach Nicky DiMarzio remarked, "We came out slow today, and uncharacteristic of us, turned the ball over against pressure early and often. Take away the first quarter and it's a one point game. Covenant is a great defensive team, their forwards are tough to match up with, and they have tremendous shooters. Nadia played solid minutes today and did some nice things for us. We got quality minutes from everyone."
