The Wesleyan College Department of Athletics awarded its year-end honors to its student-athletes on Thursday evening with senior Mellissa Webb earning the top honor as Athlete of the Year

In their best outing this season against Salem College, Wesleyan was unable to hold onto a third quarter tie and ultimately fell to the Spirits 70-57 in the quarterfinals of the Great South Athletic Conference Basketball Championship.

Kyla Williamson led Wesleyan's offense with a team-high 16 points against Carver College on Sunday afternoon, but the Cougars size and athleticism were too much in the end as they defeated the Wolves 72-38 in their Porter Gym finale.

Junior Justice Thigpen had a monster night for Wesleyan, posting a triple-double, but league leader Salem College was too dominant on the boards and pushed past Wesleyan to claim an 86-66 win over the Wolves.

Wesleyan seniors Myra Patrick and Keiona Benjamin were honored at Porter Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon, but their special game was spoiled by a fourth quarter come back by Rust College, who outscored Wesleyan 27-10 in the final frame to win 59-45.

Sophomore Kyla Williamson hit seven three-pointers on her way to scoring a career high 29 points in Wesleyan's overtime loss to Agnes Scott on Saturday afternoon. The Scotties escaped Porter Gymnasium with a 71-66 win.

Wesleyan couldn't find an answer to stop Roanoke's Cary Beahm in a 73-46 loss to the Maroons, but a bright spot for the Wolves came when Audrey Holloway earned a spot on the All Tournament Team.

Playing in the Roanoke College Tournament to start off the new year, the Wesleyan College basketball team showed some rust after their 28 day lay off, falling to Washington and Lee by a score of 73-37. The Generals held the Wolves to just 8 first half points.

Playing for the third time in as many days, the Wesleyan College basketball team hung tough with Oglethorpe University until fatigue set in, allowing the Stormy Petrels to pull away in during a 26-point fourth quarter to take home a 71-39 win on Monday evening.
