Winston-Salem, NC - The Wesleyan College volleyball team was overpowered by a strong offensive attack by the Salem College Spirits on Sunday afternoon in a 3-0 loss.

  • The Spirits put the Wolves on their heels, converting 39 of 48 attacks in the match to hit an unbelievable .771.
  • Freshman Peri Staples was the focus of Wesleyan's offense with 10 swings during the match.

"Our team worked very hard today, but we just couldn't get in a groove to create the right results," remarked Wesleyan head coach Caroline Carlton. "Our hustle was there, but we couldn't match Salem's efforts. We are still working to find the right lineup to place people where thy can contribute the most. Senior captain Alyssa Whitford's play and energy on the court was a bright spot for us today."
