Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College softball team was swept by Covenant College in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon, falling by scores of 7-0 and 13-5. The Wolves waited until the fourth inning of the second game to string together hits and push runs across the plate, but it was too little too late as the Scots had already built a commanding lead.

  • Freshman McKenzi Shelpman led the Wolves at the plate, going 4-for-6 (1R, 1 RBI) and accounting for half of Wesleyan's hits on the day. Senior Claire Crawford also had a good day, going 2-for-5 with a run scored.

"We struggled at the plate in the first game but played well defensively. In the second game, it was good to score five runs, but we let that one get away from us in the third inning and waited too long to get the bats going," remarked Wesleyan head coach Dickey Hightower.
